A.1. It is a non-profit organisation created in accordance with the provisions of the Egyptian national law number 149 of the year 2019, and texts corrected and amended, an association named “Egyptian Society for Landscape Architects” abbreviated “ESLA” in English and in Arabic: الجمعية المصرية لمهندسي اللاندسكيب

Q.2. I have been in the field for 10 years but I have not heard of your work before?

A.2. That is very normal. We are group of dedicated landscape architects who are invested in advocating and recognising the discipline in Egypt. We are not necessarily the best but certainly ones of the most dedicated. In addition, your practice might overlap with the industry but not necessarily in compliance with the overall framing of the discipline.

Q.3. Why is this NGO lead by these people?

A.3. Why not? We took the initiative and walked a long journey to arrive at this point. It consumed our resources and we were happy to invest in such an endeavour.

Q.4. How to become a member in ESLA?

A.4. Kindly check the membership criteria on our website. Then fill out the application form, upload your resumé/CV/ portfolio and pay the application fees. Your papers will then be processed by the vetting committee which may ask you for an interview. The decision will be released at the end of each quarter with approval, approval postponement in case of missing information or a recommendation to join ESLA Friends, if you wish so.

Q.5. Is ESLA alternative to the Syndicate?

A.5. Not at all. the purpose and activities of a syndicate and an association may overlap but are not necessarily identical. The membership criteria and objectives of each body may greatly differ. Please refer to our Mission and Vision section on this website for further information about our association.

Q.6. Is ESLA membership makes me an IFLA member?

A.6. The answer is yes, since ESLA is the recognized national body officially representing the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) in Egypt.
